So, as a Cardinal fan its been a pretty dang good day! As a baseball fan I am going to work hard to not only focus on the Cardinals but focus on baseball as a whole... today is an exception considering there was only one game and it was indeed the Cardinals.
I'd like to start off with just saying that I didn't get to enjoy watching the entire game... I had to spend the first 5 innings listing eagerly to the game on my phone... which based on where I was driving, wasn't an easy task. I drove through several 'dry spots' where I had no signal and became frustrated quickly to know I missing the game regardless of how significant it was to the final.
So, based on what I was able to listen to, I was excited to hear Beltran got his first hit as a Cardinal during his first at bat, second I was ecstatic to see Freese come out in clutch form and pull a 2 out double to score 2 RBI's to start the 1st. Congrats to our MVP!
The game didn't change much after we scored 2 in the first and followed the 2nd with another run. I finally made it to a restaurant that was showing the game in Ft Worth and they weren't happy to see me cheering on the Cardinals but respected my knowledge none the less. Of course when I stated that this was the first game since 1909 that the reigning world series champions played opening day in a new opposing stadium they thought I was a little too involved, until I reaffirmed that I just learned that stat while listening en route.
Regardless, the game was great and the Cardinals proved that we can win without Pujols and that is the last I will mention of 'Prince Albert' as a Cardinal. Congrats to rookie coach Matheny and the great crew he has worked so hard with in the offseason.
Now, to mention the parts of the game that I feel could have changed the outcome - Omar Infante, the Marlins 2nd baseman, had some struggles tonight. The opportunity to tag out Berkman, and pick off another shortly thereafter were key moments in the game... with those two plays executed the way they were planned, it could have been a different ballgame. He did make up for it later in the game with an amazing grap to prevent another run for the Cardinals.
Kyle Lohse pulled off an amazing game going scoreless and hitless into the 7th before he gave up his first hit. I was fortunate to finally find a place to watch the game in the 6th inning. The craziest part is the very second that ESPN mentioned the last no hitter in an opening day game being in 1940, is the minute Lohse gave up his first hit to Jose Reyes in the 7th.
All in all, Josh Johnson came out strong and worked hard to try to bring his new team to their first win in their new stadium but fell short.
I am glad I was able to see this game and, of course, proud to be the Cardinal fan that I am to see a great win to start the new season. I can't wait to see how the season goes and may the best team win... which, of course, I hope is the Cardinals!
Most importantly, baseball season is on and I am happy as a child on Christmas morning... until the next time...

I am horrible at this!
So, with the busy life I have and the random funny things that happen while traveling all the time, combined with baseball making me crazy and our weekend excitement, you would think I would have lots to talk about. Of course, as you know, I am never someone short on words anyway, but I guess time just gets away from me.
It's been a very busy recent few months - from traveling almost weekly (the weeks I am not are the weeks Jason is traveling) to enjoying a little down time and just this week starting school back up for the semester.
Here's a quick brief update:
The Cardinals have decided to make a strong downward spiral out of playoff contention... boo - BUT my boyfriend Skip had his major league pitching debut this past week which was both exciting (with 2 SO) and disappointing (giving up a homerun to former teammate Aaron Miles). But all in all, not to shabby for someone that hasn't pitched since college! Of course the other funny thing that happened was the moth that flew into Matt Holliday's ear and once they finally got it out, he kept it! Wow - what is going on with these boys of summer?!
Work is going awesome - I have been with Academy for over 5 months now and it has been AMAZING! In those 5 months I have gotten to go to many cities all over, to name a few... New Orleans, LA, Lafayette, LA, Springfield, MO, Fort Worth, TX, Austin, TX, San Antonio, TX, McAllen, TX, Midland, TX and there are more to go with that! It's been great though and I have already gotten to start reaping the benefits of my travels, quickly progressing through elite statuses with airline and hotel points. Can't wait for that trip one day that will be free courtesy of rewards points... :-)
My brother left for Korea about 3 weeks ago now for his 1 year assignment. I will be e-mailing, writing and sending care packages to try to help time pass and keep him updated on anything I hear going on around here. Also - keep the prayers coming for my Grandma Haselhorst, she is doing better than before but she has been having some rough times recently with her health. I appreciate it!
I am happy to announce that my life will change in about 8.5 months... I WILL GRADUATE! Get your heads out of the gutter... you know me better than to have a child without finishing school... sheesh! I started school back up this week to complete the first of my last 2 semesters. Very exciting!!! I find myself longing for November when I can apply for graduation. I also find myself thinking... what am I going to do after I graduate? What will I do with my extra time? Will one masters be enough? Do I go back again for another? Do I get my PhD? Do I sit back and enjoy just traveling and hanging out with my hubby? Do we consider starting a family? What will this mean for me and my job? Will I get a promotion? Will I get an increase? Will it matter at all?
Way too many questions cross my mind about the land of the unknown in May... but at least I am trying to think about those things so when May comes there won't be near as many questions to answer.
Anyway - there is my brief update - thanks for reading and I won't promise anything about when my next post will be, just know I will be glad for you to read it when I do... :-)

One of the most important things that happened in the 2 months since I blogged!
I can't believe I didn't mention one of the most important things that happened in the 2 months since blogging...
I became an aunt on March 25th!!!
Braden Allan Haselhorst was born around 6am and was 9lbs 12ounces and 20.25 inches long with a full head of dark hair.
Very exciting day for all of us as that's the first niece/nephew, first grandchild, and another way to continue to carry on the Haselhorst name.
Following the excitement I was asked to be Godmother!!!! We will make that official in 2 weeks :-)
Can't wait to see that little guy grow up and spoil him like crazy!!!

Wow - yep... it's been 2 months!
First off... I apologize to the total of maybe 3 followers I have for keeping you in suspense.... or just not giving you something to read for 5 minutes out of your day but let me recap...
I had my last day at PROS on March 17th, with which I spent a great happy hour with some of the great people I worked with.
Baseball season started shortly after with the Cardinals starting out to a horrible beginning, but have since revived themselves with Berkman and Holliday leading the charge. Mind you as of today - they are in the 3 and 4 spots of the ENTIRE majors on batting average and 1 and 2 in the NL. I would say that's pretty damn impressive. I admit, I thought Holliday was overpaid on his contract and Berkman getting 8 mil for one year - ouch... but they way these guys are performing... welcome to Cardinal Nation and we are glad to have ya!
Next... I started my new job on March 21st and if I had to summarize my experience thus far with my co-workers, my actual job, my company and my experiences in one word, it would be.... AMAZING! I love it all, it is very rewarding, always changing and very exciting to know I made the right choice. I can't wait to see what my future has in store and for the first time in my life, I can honestly say... good morning... I can't wait to go to work. :-)
Another thing - Just want to make a shout out to my hubby, that has been supportive through EVERYTHING - school, job change, whatever! And we were lucky to celebrate our 5th Anniversary this month! Where does time go?! Been a great 5 years and look for many years to come!
Finally! I just finished a semester in school... the semester that completes the first half of my Masters program at that... and after taking 9 hours, experiencing the learning curve of a new job and juggling life itself... I finished with ALL A's! I think the first time since I was in like 2nd grade!
So... as you can see, life is looking great and I can't wait to see what the upcoming days, weeks, months and years have in store for me... I know in the next days... like today for instance (just got back from New Orleans) travel, summer semester, vacations, and graduation in the next year!
I hope to update you more in the near future! Until next time!

FUN STUFF!!!!
So - it's been a while since I blogged but here is an update...
FIRST - HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!!!
SECOND - I got the dream job I had been hoping for!! I will be an HR Consultant with Academy Sports + Outdoors. I will get to travel through all the states on the Gulf Coast and meet thousands of people! I am very excited... not to mention, more money, more time off and all around a great company! So.... WOOHOO!!!!
THIRD - It's my last day at my current job, kind of bittersweet. I am SUPER excited about my new opportunity and can't wait to start, but I will miss many of the people I have met at PROS... they have been good to me (for the most part) and I will be sad to not see them in the halls, but I am sure I will meet plenty of others that I will get the same feelings for. I will miss my co-pilot and our many talks to and from work daily and will definitely miss my other HR girls.. they are awesome.
FOURTH - The semester is halfway over and I am feeling the crunch of projects coming up, thank goodness I shouldn't need to take 3 classes in one semester ever again and after laying out the remainder of my program I am happy to say that if everything goes as planned - May 2012 I will be walking across that stage with a smile on my face and a Masters Degree to show for it!
LAST - Opening Day is right around the corner... we purchased our annual MLB.TV so we can watch all of the Cardinal games and our Fantasy Baseball draft has been completed... with me getting Pujols 2 years in a row might I add!
Until next time - Eat, Drink and be Green!

What a crazy few weeks...
After many interviews and a busy school schedule I find myself wondering... where did February go?! I have interviewed with about 7 companies in the last month. At least one sounding pretty promising.
Been busy with school projects, reading and discussion postings... just to realize I am only 2 weeks out from spring break which means next week I have midterms... EW!
Worked over 50 hours in each of the past few weeks due to craziness at work, but did have a great weekend this past one filled with happy hour with co-workers and friends and going to the Rodeo cookoff via limo with more friends.
To finish this short posting off...
Ups and downs in the redbird clubhouse... Wainwright goes out for the season and will have Tommy John surgery... Lance Berkman makes his Cardinal debut today at their first spring training game and while the Cards lost to the Marlins - his first at bat was a solo home run, lets see more of that Lance.
Looking forward to an interesting season would love to prove the Cards can win without Wainwright (don't want to have to, but can).
Until next time!
Ciao!

Oh sheesh... where to begin?!
Alright! Deep breath... and GO!
Still no job lined up but my company has graciously offered to let me keep my job through March if I need it (gee thanks, how about just giving it back to me permanently?!) I have finally started getting some interest flowing and interviews (phone and/or onsite) lined up.
Started back up with classes for the semester - decided to be ballsy and take 3 classes this semester. So far I am handling it, but check back with me around Spring Break. Will definitely need that break. I have at least 2-3 people in each of my classes that I have had in classes before so that is nice. And if I have the option (based on class availability and sanity) I could take 3 courses this summer and 3 courses this fall and be DONE! But likely I will take two in the summer, two in the fall and two next spring and still be done earlier than I predicted.
We finally took down our christmas lights this weekend... I know, I know - redneck.
I am heading to Austin Thursday to help recruit people from UT for a company that won't let me continue working for them (awkward) but that's ok cause they are paying for my mileage and the whole reason I said I would go anyway is because I am heading to Austin for my Sister in Law's baby shower. Haha, who won that one :) So I will get to stay in a nice hotel on the company dime, get some homework done and a good nights sleep and call it good.
Supposed to get hit by this cold thing that is coming - but not nearly like most of you folks up north... brrr, bundle up and just remember, the last time there was a storm like the one they are predicting, I was conceived... SOOOO... if you are cooped up for an extended period of time and are trying to keep your body temperature up - be careful because come October - we might see an influx of Snowmaggedon babies.
FINALLY - We are only 15 days out from the Pitchers and Catchers reporting to spring training. I can't wait!!!! I guess I will watch the Super Bowl just cause - cause it means the season is finally OVER!!! YAY! And of course the HUGE talks going on in baseball... will the Cards come to an agreement on Pujols extention pre-February 16th or will it have to wait til the off season and the other teams start getting their chances? Hmmm, we will have to wait and see!
